This project involved the development of a small residential community consisting of 23 houses, which included the construction of a foul water pumping station. The design and initial construction of the pumping station were carried out by a third-party provider specializing in pumping station solutions.
However, upon completion of the site, the groundworks contractor encountered significant challenges. They were unable to present the pumping station for adoption due to a considerable number of outstanding issues, or 'snags,' which the original pumping station provider was unwilling to address.
To facilitate the adoption process, we took proactive steps to assist our client. An onsite visit was organized, which included a representative from Southern Water, to conduct a thorough inspection of the pumping station. During this visit, we compiled a comprehensive list of the identified snags that required remediation. Our goal was to ensure that the pumping station met the necessary standards to transition into its maintenance period, a crucial step prior to adoption.
After the necessary remedial works were completed, we successfully placed the pumping station into its maintenance period. Subsequently, we undertook the installation of new pumps to enhance the functionality and reliability of the system. As a result of these efforts, the pumping station was ultimately adopted by the relevant authorities, marking a successful resolution to the project. This outcome not only benefited our client but also ensured that the community's infrastructure was robust and compliant with regulatory standards, representing a win-win situation for all stakeholders involved.
